In this article, I will be writing a basketball guide that will hopefully improve your shooting accuracy. While shooting is one of the fundamental skills of basketball, not everyone has the proper techniques or form. In order to fix those problems, make sure you master some of the steps I listed below. The breakdown for making basketball shots can be broken down in these few steps:

1) Relax

When shooting a basketball, one of the most important things to do is relax. When an opponent who is at a much greater height advantage comes charging at you, you have to remain calm until the end of your follow through. The best way to counteract a situation like this is to keep your eyes on the basket. By keeping your head still, and your body in a relaxed position, your accuracy will not degrade. Also, think positively as you shoot. If you are hesitant at any moment of the shooting process, your shooting accuracy is likely to degrade.

2) Remember to bend your knees

To maximize your vertical jump, you must always remember to bend your knees. Once you hit the apex (or the highest point) of your jump, remain focus, and let the ball glide off your hand. Always remember to follow through! A follow through gives the extra strength on your release shots, and also gives a nice backspin to the ball.

3) Have both feet set on the ground, and lock in your elbows

Balance is perhaps one of the most important factors when determining your shooting form. When you take a shot, and you are off balance; the likelihood of you causing a mistake greatly increases.
The best way to maintain a good posture is to set both feet on the ground and close the elbows. In addition, remember to set keep the ball on your fingertips, and not on your palm. The palm is not reliable, and can give you the improper amount of power for your shots.
